Your responsibilities as an organisation

It’s now recognised that your employees’ mental health is just as important as their physical health. And, as an organisation, it’s your responsibility to give your employees’ mental health the same consideration as their physical health.

This applies when preparing health and safety risk assessments and when managing and mitigating risks of harm in the workplace.

You should be treating mental health in the same way you treat physical health. For example having as many mental health first aiders as physical first aiders.

Taking action on mental health

The best time to tackle mental health and wellbeing in your organisation is now.

The sooner you take action, the sooner you can start reducing absenteeism and presenteeism — and improving productivity and engagement.

My mental health training and wellbeing consulting is designed to deliver results and create lasting and transformative change.

The mental health training I offer

I offer a variety mental health training courses and this is a brief overview.

We’ll start with a consultation to determine your specific needs and decide which courses will be most beneficial for your organisation.

The training can be done in your workplace or online, but delegates usually get more value from the courses when they’re delivered face-to-face.

MHFA training

I’m an accredited instructor for MHFA England, whose training courses are renowned as being the best MHFA training in the world.

I’m one of only a few mental health trainers who deliver all MHFA’s adult and youth courses, including the globally recognised Mental Health First Aid.

Mental Health First Aid training will teach your delegates to:

  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health issues in themselves and each other
  • Provide non-judgemental support and reassurance to their colleagues
  • Empower individuals to seek professional help and support.

“The MHFA training was really insightful and the trainer was engaging and knowledgable. I found this training invaluable to both my professional and everyday life.”

Neurodiversity training

I’m an accredited partner instructor for Thrive, whose training courses are rapidly becoming known as being the best Neurodiversity training in the U.K.

I’m am licensed to deliver all of Thrive’s webinar and courses which include a 1-hour Neurodiversity Aware webinar, 4-hour Neurodiversity Champion course and a 4-hour Neurodiversity Managers course.

Thrive training will teach your delegates to:

  • Increase understanding of Neurodiversity
  • Learn how to support neurodifferent individuals to unlock their full potential
  • Change the culture in your workplace around neurodiversity
  • Discover ways to create a more inclusive sensory safe working environment

Bespoke mental health training

I’m flexible, so if you need something more specific, I’ll create a bespoke mental health training course, tailored for your organisation’s culture, branding, messaging and needs.

With bespoke mental health training, the content will be adapted so it’s more personal and relatable for your delegates.

For example, case studies will feature recognisable situations and people. And we can cover any changes or developments your organisation is going through.

My own mental health training

Over the years, I’ve developed a number of my own mental health training courses where I felt there was a need. These courses cover a range of issues and have been well-received by delegates and their organisations.

Why choose me as your mental health trainer?

I have a personal understanding

With my corporate background and my own history of mental health struggles, I see the value of mental health training from both a corporate and human perspective.

For your organisation, I’ll be focused on the end goals of:

  • Improving understanding of mental health
  • Inspiring a positive approach to mental health
  • Reducing absenteeism and presenteeism
  • Improving employee wellbeing and morale
  • Improving productivity and performance.

For your employees, my objectives will be to:

  • Inspire them to live fuller lives by improving their mental health
  • Help them understand more about themselves and their wellbeing
  • Give them what they need to make positive changes in their lives.

“Peter was a great instructor; the training was engaging, and he created a space where we could share our experiences and learn from each other.”

I bring the topic to life

Helping others with their mental health isn’t just a job to me — it’s a passion. And I genuinely care that everyone who undertakes the training benefits from it. To that end, I present the training in several different formats so that everyone can learn in the way that feels most comfortable and natural for them.

My sessions are interactive and designed to involve and engage everyone. And rather than focusing on theory, which delegates can’t always relate to, I bring my own experience and understanding to every session. This makes the topic more accessible and easier to understand.

And, unlike some of my competitors, I only deliver training three days a week. This means my delivery stays fresh and doesn’t become stale or formulaic.

“I really enjoyed the course. Our tutor, Peter, was so candid, informative, and really helped shine a light on how to care for yourself and others.”

I offer post-training support

With some trainers, the support ends when the session ends. But sometimes your delegates will need more.

That’s why I offer post-training support to anyone who needs it and am open to people contacting me after the session.

“Peter is a really great trainer, leader and somebody who I find inspirational. He listens and has time for everyone on the course.”

Every organisation is different and has different needs when it comes to mental health. My mental health training and consulting services will be tailored for your organisation and will give you everything you need to be compliant.
